What Is the Bahrain CPR Card?

The Central Population Registry (CPR) card is Bahrain's national identification and residency document, issued by the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA). All residents — citizens and expatriates — are required to hold a valid CPR card.

CPR Validity

The CPR card for expatriates is valid for the same duration as your residence permit — usually 1–2 years.

CPR Renewal Process

  1. Renew your residence permit first — Your CPR is tied to your residency status. Renew through LMRA (Labour Market Regulatory Authority).
  2. Apply through iGA — Visit iGA.gov.bh, the Bahrain eGovernment app, or an iGA service centre.
  3. Biometrics (if required) — Visit an iGA office for fingerprinting updates.
  4. Pay fees — Online via Benefit Pay or at service centres.
  5. Receive new CPR — Mailed or collected from iGA service centres.

FAQ

Can I renew my CPR without my employer?

If employer-sponsored, they typically handle the residency renewal side. The CPR card itself can be renewed through iGA once your residency is valid.

How can I check my CPR expiry date?

Check through the iGA website or app using your CPR number, or call iGA on 8008001.
